Matt Ellis is a freelance artist residing in Richmond, Virginia. His expertise is in creating custom murals, illustrations for book covers, and golf paintings. Born in Hopewell, Virginia in 1968, he realized at a very young age his talent and appreciation for art.
His favorite artists include Salvador Dalí, Vincent van Gogh, Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo to name a few.
Most recently completed project was for Bogart's Restaurant & Jazz Club, 1903 W. Cary Street, Richmond, VA (Feb '09). Work included painting a mural of Humphrey Bogart (15' wide by 10' high) to be permanently on display at Bogart's. Below are time lapsed photos of the process from start to finish. The project took approximately 30 hours.
Matt has lived and created custom artwork for people all over the country, including Orlando, Florida, Hilton Head, South Carolina and Las Vegas, Nevada. Some of his works are even on display at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Country Club in Orlando, as well as Troy Aikman's office in Dallas, Texas.
 Having played golf in high school, Matt came to appreciate the beauty of the golf course as well as the game itself. He has painted many famous golf holes around the world, like the 17th hole at Bay Hill in Orlando, Florida, the 18th hole at Harbour Town, South Carolina, the 2nd hole at the Olympic Club in San Fransisco, California, and the 18th hole at Troon North in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Aside from being employed as a bartender for Tripp's restaurant in Richmond, Matt's current projects include book cover art and jackets for "The World's Most Creative and Dangerous Quote Book" and "Bradbury Wine" by N. Wylie Jones. Other projects include logo & custom website illustration for Dawn Wadiak, President of the Foundation for Family Healing, LLC and Award Web Services, LLC.
